The Mayor’s short sighted and irresponsible decisions have created a housing affordability crisis in Oakville that now has the Town proposing 59 storey skyscraper developments.

Help me stop the skyscrapers.

Why this election matters:

Increase Citizen Participation, Inclusion & Diversity

The best leaders are great listeners who champion the ideas of the community and promote unity. Too much decision making has been centralized in Oakville. I will set a positive welcoming tone for the Town and seek wider input and engagement with citizens.

Oakville Ranks Well Below Burlington in Canada’s Best Communities by Maclean’s Magazine

In last year's Maclean’s Magazine ranking of Canada's Best Communities, Oakville ranked #70. One spot better than Hamilton. Maclean's says Burlington is a more desirable place to live.  Burlington ranked #35.

A Greener Oakville for the Future

I am committed to increasing green space, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our environment. I expect our town to be a leader and innovator in environmental initiatives and programs. Including becoming the most electric vehicle friendly community in Ontario.

Why this election matters: 

Oakville Isn’t What It Once Was

In the past four years, I've met with, and spoken to, thousands of people in our community. Residents are telling me that the Oakville they love is changing, and not in a good way. In February of this year, the Town's own "Citizen Satisfaction Survey" showed (see page 10) that 6 out of 10 residents WOULD NOT recommend Oakville to their family and friends. Oakville scored 20 on its “net promotor score” (how many people are supporters vs detractors). For context, net promotor score is asked of many companies and organizations. Oakville’s net promotor score is 19 points lower than what people rank Air Canada!

Congestion: Let’s Get Oakville Moving

Congestion is making it harder to get around town. Better planning to avoid congestion is one solution. SmartTraffic technology, traffic light synchronization and keeping cars off the road will help too.

 

Why this election matters:

End 14-year Record of Excessive Property Tax Increases

The average home in Oakville is paying $6,666 more in property taxes since 2006. Cumulatively the Town of Oakville’s portion of property taxes increased 78%, almost triple Canadian inflation.

I love this Town. Oakville has been my home for 40 years. It is where I have raised my family and built my businesses. I was embraced, accepted and supported by this community. I want ALL residents, old and new, to feel as welcomed as I was. I want everyone to feel confident and hopeful for the future of Oakville.

In the most recent Town Survey, 6 out of 10 residents would NOT recommend Oakville to family and friends. We need to acknowledge what our residents are saying and feeling. If we are not confident enough to recommend the Town we live in, it is time for change.
